Children’s Park is a recipient of Round 4 of the California State Park’s ‘Parks for All’ program that seeks to improve access to parks in underserved communities. The project is currently completing the permitting phase and is aiming to start construction in 2026 with project completion estimated by 2027.
In 2021 the Community and District secured a $4.2 million grant to bring the full vision for Children’s Park to life. Since then, project costs have risen by 29% due to inflation, putting key elements of the renovation at risk. To ensure the park becomes the welcoming, accessible space our community imagined, the Isla Vista Recreation and Parks District (IVRPD) is seeking donations to close the funding gap.

PROJECT PERMITTING
Since mid-year 2025, the Children’s Park project has been in permit review with the County of Santa Barbara. This effort is ongoing, but nearing completion. We are hopeful that project bidding and construction will proceed in 2026.
